Penstemons are one of my favourite plants, although they are sensitive to the cold and do not last more than a couple of years. This month I added a new one to the main border. The Penstemon Arctic Fox is the white flower in the picture at the top. Complimented by the blue Geranium and the pink Astrantia at the back. Not very visible in the photo below, just that hint of white this side of the far Alliums.
In my post of 10th June last year I noted that all the Penstemon Firebird had perished in the succession of heavy frosts. However the new Penstemon Electric Blue below survived and this year is looking better than ever. With more flowers to come.
Update Today
The new white Penstemon had disappeared in the main birder, being overwhelmed by all the other plants. So yesterday it was transplanted opposite the blue one and looks a lot happier. Hopefully it will survive the move.
