Harbingers of Spring

At this time of year, there are signs of the garden coming into life. Above, there are flowers on the osmanthus burkwoodii at the back of the main border.

The Forsythia is  now three separate shrubs next to each other.

There are buds bursting into life on the Philadelphus by the side patio.

The Verbena is coming out of hibernation.

As is the Weigela Red Prince.

And the Acanthus.

Also the Spiraea Japonica.

There are buds on the Flowering Currant, the part that is left after the old shrub was removed.

The Honeysuckle is beginning to leaf.

And finally some nice berries on the Skimmia Japonica rubella.

There are the first signs of new growth on the roses since they were pruned a few weeks ago.
