The end of the Aylesbury Prune

The last of the three Aylesbury Prune trees at the far end of the garden died over the summer. These were the remnants of the orchard that used to occupy the site that is now all houses. The Aylesbury Prune is an old traditional damson that can be found in odd places in the Vale. Damson plums are a sub-species of the plum tree.

Now only the Robinia Pseudoacacia on the left remains.

The blue fruit from the Aylesbury Prune has appeared over the last few years in ever decreasing number. However we shall not miss the mess from the birds that used to eat them.
