Bethany Whelan was one of our favourite detectives in the crime series Vera. Played by Cush Jumbo, she appeared in series 2 in 2012 when she was twenty six, and then in all series 5 in 2015. We were horrified when she died in the first episode of series 6.
However, a sparkling career beckoned culminating in 2024's Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse playing Lady Macbeth. See post of the 11th February.
